North Raleigh Presbyterian Church is a welcoming community of faith and friendship. Founded in 1984, we are a part of the Presbyterian Church USA and the New Hope Presbytery. Our membership continues to increase, and we have a congregation that represents all age groups.
As a Christian community, we believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and that he has called us to be his disciples. We encourage NRPC members, as well as visitors, to become involved in our church, encouraging a closer relationship with God and each other.
In 1983, North Raleigh was a very different place. There were few shopping centers and schools and no churches. At that time, each Christian denomination began to organize interested individuals, and under the guiding hand of then Orange Presbytery, a group of Presbyterians and like-minded Christians living in North Raleigh began worshipping together at Children's World (at the corner of Ray and Strickland Roads). This group quickly outgrew the space and began meeting at Lynn Road Elementary School. By 1984, North Raleigh Presbyterian Church was officially organized.
In 1989, NRPC moved into what is now our Faith Ministries Building, and for 13 years, the FMB served as our place of worship, education and fellowship. Following a successful capital campaign in 2002, we dedicated our sanctuary, and our membership has seen considerable growth. We’ve enhanced and improved our ministry areas, and started small groups and member care opportunities to ensure that we remain a close community of faith.
